Bindaas Bar & Kitchen
Bindaas colloquially means "chilled out" or "carefree", and the restaurant is just that. A cosy little spot right on the corner of Hollywood Road and Aberdeen Street, its filled with contemporary Indian menu reminding us of Dishoom in London every time we visit - though, taste wise Bindaas surpasses Dishoom by miles.
One can smell the delicious aromas from this chic restaurant all the way down the steps of Mee Lun Street. I hate the steps but thank them every time I make my way to Bindaas as they help build the appetite needed for this restaurant as EVERYTHING is delicious! Beautiful vibrant decor inside with a bar that is way too inviting - the only thing I'd change are the slightly inconvenient high tables. Getting my chair just the right distance away from the table has always been a struggle in this restaurant. |
The Bindaas menu has convenient sharing plates, almost Spanish Tapas style dining, making it easier to try multiple dishes in a visit (and definitely helps reduce the envy stares across the table!). From their delectable 'Sev Puris' to their melt-in-your-mouth 'Mutton Galawti' kebabs to the scrumptious Pao dishes (Keema Pao is my favourite!) to the Biryani's on Sundays to even their amazing 'Saag Gosht' (and I don't even like Spinach!)...and lets not even get started on their desserts (their 'Paan Kulfi' is heavenly), there isn't a single dish that has disappointed me till date!
Apart from the food, the bartender at Bindaas must also be commended - All the signature cocktails (and I've tried almost all of them) are a delight; our favourite being 'A Postcard from Old Delhi' which is basically an Old Fashioned infused with hints of various spices used while making Biryani.
All in all Bindaas has always given us a great night out. But before I end this, I must give a shout out to Sam, the Manager. He's always made us feel right at home - from general chit chat to suggesting what next to try from the menu to recommending different liquors from the bar, zipping between tables making sure everyone is ok, he definitely helps make the evening pleasant.
Lastly, as far as pricing goes, Bindaas is in Soho so does have what I call "the Soho price tag". But, for the contemporary/fusion twist to Indian cuisine with great portion sizes and a delightful bar - it's definitely a place that should not be missed.
