I've always loved riding trams - yes, they are slow, but they are so cool! From the old dilapidated ones in Kolkata to the modern ones in Prague to the heritage trams of San Francisco, I've made sure I ride the tram if its an available mode of transport in the city I'm in. Surprisingly, I never made it to the trams in London - possibly because there were none in the main city.
My love for Hong Kong grows with every Ding Ding ride. They may be slow but they are the greenest way to travel around the city - and, are they cheap! The Ding Ding is the cheapest way to get around Hong Kong Island. A single journey costs HKD$2.30 for an Adult, HKD$1.20 for Child ages 3-12, and HKD$1.10 for Senior Citizens. There are 6 tram routes on the Island covering 120 stops with some of the main attractions of Hong Kong (and a lot of history) en route.

HK Tramways also offers the TramOramic tour - a Hong Kong sight seeing tour aboard a 1920's style open top tram. This tour can be taken Eastbound (Western Market to Causeway Bay) or Westbound (Causeway Bay to Western Market) and costs HKD$95 for Adults & HKD$65 for Child. It's unfortunate, that I haven't done this tour till date, but I can't wait to do try this out.
For now, here's a time-lapse of my recent Ding Ding ride from Kennedy Town to Central.
