I was never a jungle lover. I spent the first 28 years of my life wondering why people were so fascinated by the jungle. To be honest, I've been brought up majorly in the city and I've never been fond of mud and dust and insects and creepy crawlies. I think it all started when I was around 6 and my dad had a rural posting to a place called Jadugoda which has sometimes been termed as "The Nuclear Graveyard". This small place is basically a township for the Uranium Corporation of India - yep, you heard it...Uranium! And, I think the radiation, which has definitely affected a lot of humans in the area, had got to the creepy crawlies as well. Grasshoppers a foot long, snails the size of a large orange, frogs the size of a grapefruit, meter long bright coloured snakes that would be roaming around the garden after it rained, and the worst - flying frogs...ugghhh...
So, what was I doing outside Jaipur airport in the peak of summer (42 degrees) with 5 other people stuffing our bags into a tempo traveller which was going to drive us down to Sawai Madhopur?
